    Y-Buddies!

Looking for another way to get involved on campus? Y-Buddies is a great way to do so!!

Y-Buddies is a student run mentoring program through the University YMCA, located at 1801 University Ave. SE (right on Frat Row). We match college students with a student in 3rd-8th grade from a school in Minneapolis who could really benefit from a positive role model.

Once matched, you are required to hang out with your "little buddy" one hour per week doing low-cost activities like going to a park, playing a game, watching a movie, etc. We also hold a seminar every Tuesday night from 6:30-8:00pm at the Y where we discuss community awareness issues and stuff that is going on in your buddy's life. Once per month there will be a big group event where all the big and little buddies will get together and go somewhere fun like the Science Museum, the Holidazzle Parade, or the Como Zoo.

Y-Buddies is a really great way to gain leadership experience, make a huge difference in a child's life, give back to your community, and meet a bunch of cool people!

We have attached an application; you can fill out and return to the YMCA. Once we receive your application we will call you to set up an interview. Our seminars have started, so get your application in ASAP! If you are unsure, come to a seminar to get a feel for what we're all about Seminars are from 6:30 to 8 pm (it doesn't always go the whole time) on Tuesday nights. If you have any further questions, email Y-Buddies@YMCAmpls.org
