Please note - I'm only maintaining information for the first generation born to the immigrant Van Essen as a service to enable other Van Essen 'cousins' to contact each other.

NOTE: In February, 2000, I discovered that my immigrant ancestor's surname was Van Ussen instead of Van Essen. I've included his line here, and, even though I won't be related to any Van Essen's other than the ones I already know about, I've decided to continue maintaining this list.

		Married Geertje VAN HIESDEN (surname from 1878 Fon du Lac birth/death record for child Hannah).
		Emigrated to Fon du Lac, Wisconsin in 1866. Moved to Pipestone County, Minnesota (near Edgerton), around 1895.

		Married Hermina SCHUURMANS, March 31, 1864, in Oss, Noord-Brabant.
		Emigrated to Oconto, Wisconsin, later in 1864.
		Children surviving to adulthood:
		Son John VAN ESSEN was born January 22, 1867 in Oconto. Early in adulthood, changed his last name from Van Ussen to Van Essen. Married Helena DE FRANCE and had 7 children that survived to adulthood: Clarence (lived in Brainerd, Minnesota), Anna, Mildred, Ethel, Raymond (lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin), Harold (lived in Charles City, Iowa), and Lucille. Lived in Oconto, Wisconsin; Quinnesec, Michigan; and Howard and Green Bay, Wisconsin.
