The General Assembly of the United Nations.
The General Assembly (GA) is the main body of the United Nations; all member states are members of the GA and have one vote. Even though General Assembly resolutions are generally not binding on member states they do carry the weight of world opinion. The GA is not as incapable of action as it may seem: it sets up special commissions to monitor and report back on decisions made by the committee, and the Secretariat does all it can to enforce resolutions.
This year at the
University of Minnesota Model United Nations we will be discussing the
Rights of Refugees. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your
innovative ideas.
