The
Basics:
- The ball may not
be passed forward (though it may be kicked
forward)
-players may not receive the ball
in an offside position, nor may they
wait in such a position.
-The basic game involves 15 players per team, though
seven-a-side tournaments are also popular
- the game starts with a kick-off
- Players may not be tackled without the ball.
- Play only stops when a try is scored, or the ball goes out of play,
or an infringement occurs.
- When the ball goes out it is thrown back in at a line-out.
- Infringements result in a or free kick, or scrum.
- there is no separate offensive and defensive unit.
- you may not play the ball on the ground.
- if you ever make it to the try zone you must place the ball on the
ground to receive points, like 5 of them.
- after you score a try, you can kick for 3 more points.
The Lingo:

the player carrying the ball is held up by
opposing player and team mates in order to drive the ball forward

line out = when opposing
teams line up next to each other and jump for
the ball.
