Golden Gopher Season Closer

Our home Mtb races took place this last weekend in Red Wing MN. The weather turned out well, and a little bit on the hot/muggy side actually.

Saturday saw the running of the downhill race and the collegiate short track. Some of the open class downhillers turned in some impressive performances that were a lot of fun for everybody to watch - KU won the mens collegiate downhill race, and I believe that KSU took the women's race.

Way to go Mitch Ryan, for being the ONLY racer from our team to compete the first day. You represented well and even had a sweet crash! Sorry Mitch but I totally have to use this picture:

I can't give a personal account for the XC race on Sunday, as Burban and I had to leave town due to some really unexpected lack of vacancy in the Red Wing area hotels. More UM members showed up though and I am sure it went well.

Overall though, thanks again for everyone that turned out to race and to those who volunteered. Special thanks again to Andy (Tink) for organizing the whole thing. It was a good weekend.

What was the real highlight though, you ask?

- Most definitely, it was the debut of Mark Smelser's moustache.
