Magdalene Hansen Wold was born on
5 September 1885 in Trondhjem, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway; the daughter of Hans Jakob Torstensen
Wold and Marit Pedersdatter Soelberg. She married Lewis
Knudson on 29 July 1908 in Pierre, Hughes, South Dakota. According to the 1910
U.S. census Magdalene was living in Wessington Springs, Jerauld, South Dakota with Lewis,
thier son Gerald, mother-in-law Gertrude, brother Hans Wold, and brother-in-law George
Knudson.3 In the 1930 census, Lewis and Magdalene were
living at 322 East 4th Ave., Mitchell, Davison, South Dakota with all nine of their
children.4 Magdalene died 21 June 1958 in Mitchell,
Davison, South Dakota.

Hans
Jakob Torstensen Wold was born on 2 November 1853 in Norway; the son of Torsten Eriksen Wold and
Magdalene Hansen. He married Marit Pedersdatter Soelberg in Norway. Hans and
Marit left Trondheim for America on 20 April 1887. Click here for an account of
their voyage to America. They settled in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa where Hans
worked as a moulder in a foundry. Hans died on 2 October 1890 in Sioux City,
Woodbury, Iowa at the age of 36.

Hansen on 4 March 1843 in Strinda, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway.
