Union Pacific at Summit, Nebraska, winter 1953.
One of the famous three-cylinder Union Pacific type locomotives of the Union Pacific blasts upgrade at Summit, Nebraska, near 32nd Avenue in the winter of 1953. Normally this grade out of Omaha required a "helper" locomotive but on this day the 9000 type was struggling at a snail's pace to breast the ascent.
