Fall 2009 Tryouts Tryouts for the University of Minnesota Men's Club Soccer Team will be held Monday August 10th - Thursday August 13th, 2009, from 5:00-7:00pm at the St. Paul A Fields located at the intersection of Cleveland and Laurpenteur in St. Paul MN. $40 Tryout Fee Due at First Session Tryouts are a fun, but intense week of soccer designed to place players on either the Gold or Maroon team. Sessions generally consist of playing small sided games and full field scrimmages. Plan to come to tryouts in reasonable shape so you can show your skills. If you are coming from out of town and need a place to stay during tryouts or if you have any other questions about tryouts, send us an email. Fall 2008 Heading to Nationals After a slow start, the fall season has seen the Gold Team come together and improve with every game. A victory at Shattuck was one highlight, revenging a lopsided lose in the fall of 2007. The recent NIRSA Regional tournament featured Nebraska, Mankato State, Minnesota Gold , Minnesota Maroon and the University of Northern Iowa. With a national tournament birth at stake, the Gold Team won their group to advance as the number 1 seed into the knockout stages. A 5-1 semi-final victory was followed by a 6-0 final victory that was played in a wind-driven rain/sleet storm. The victory means the Gold Team have not lost in 14 straight games and will be headed to the NIRSA National Tournament in Tuscaloosa, AL 11/20 through 11/22. Go Gophers! Spring 2008 Open Practices Spring 2008 open soccer sessions are held every Tuesday night from March 4th to April 15th at the Field House from 10:00pm to 11:30pm. This is to give all competitive and semi-competitive soccer players at the University of Minnesota a chance to play against other skilled players. This is purely for fun but will also give you a chance to see what it is like playing with men's club soccer players. Members of both the Gold and Maroon teams will be there. There is no charge and we will be scrimmaging from start to end. 2008 Domeinate The University of Minnesota Men's Club Soccer team will partner with the National Sports Center Soccer Academy to host Domeinate on Sunday April 13th, 2008 at the Metrodome. Domeinate is a unique 4v4 small-sided tournament for youth players between 9 and 16. This is a fantastic event for all youth soccer players and a great chance to meet the University of Minnesota Club team players. |
