Contact him for the details. Nancy also writes that: for those of you in the Manhatan area, Terry (Edmonds) Olson wants you to know that a short memorial service for Sally (Washburn) Cottrell and the internment of her ashes will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 9, at Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. Her sons, mother, brother, sister, and husband will be attending, and they welcome Sally’s friends. As most of you know, Sally died last June from cancer. Directions to the site: From Stagg Hill Road, turn south onto East Sunrise Drive. Take the third right onto Summit Drive, then the first right onto Summit Circle. Section G (specifically, Lot G-3-559) is northwest of the circle drive. |

| 5/22/07 | Jim Hedrick writes: "In 30 yrs I have only crossed paths with two grads. Cathy Hollomon and Alan Tilley. I did cross paths with Russ Frey's dad at a wedding reception in Seneca KS too. Well it is a big world and I now pastor in Dubuque IA and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ regularly. I never have gotten tired of that truth. I have lived in MO,MS,TN with a10 year stint in KS inbetween TN and IA. I'm 30 yrs happily married to LeeAnn who is mother of my 3 children. I too am the grandfather of Karis Faith Hedrick. Is any body else living in the fast lane. I am a school advocate. My wife and Ihave homeschooled, public schooled and private schooled our kids. I've served on the Nemaha Valley USD school board and the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary board of trustees in my young adult life. I never thought I would be a college professor but in God's good providence I have taught as an adjunct in the religion and philosophy dept. at the University of Dubuque for the last four years. "I'm glad to be in the 72 loop after all these years. I would like to deja vu with Jeb Bolan ,Mike Inglesby and others of my Northview neighbors this year but email may have to do. God's blessings to each of you youth. John be sure Nancy K gets someone to do a 35th reunion invocation, benediction or sermon. I nominate you. Anyone remember Bible as Literature class? To God Be the Glory Great Things He has Done." |

| 5/16/07 | Tim Larsen writes: "I am still in Mount Pleasant, Texas with Jane ("his wife" as Ed Schiappa was/is so fond of saying) and our two children David (18) & Elizabeth (12).
As with the last blow-out, Jane still works for Pilgrim's Pride in R & D.
Due to the company's growth philosophy and acquisitions over the last few years, Pilgrim's is now the # 1 poultry company in the United States, with World Headquarters situated between Mount Pleasant and the even smaller town of Pittsburg, Texas. "I am still working (for the last eight years) for a law firm in the nearby town of Daingerfield, Texas. I continue to keep my law license in Alabama but work as a "Legal Assistant." here in Texas. I use that term to distinguish myself from the Danny DeVito character in the movie "The Rainmaker." I am NOT a "para-lawyer" (a term coined in that movie to describe DeVito's character who never passed the bar exam). "Our son, David is in the final "death throws" of high school. In fact, it is his graduation that keeps us from attending the 35th in Manhattan. While you are "throwing back a few cold ones" at Pat's on Friday night, I will be watching my "little boy" walk across the stage. "Elizabeth (who was in First Grade the last time we got together) is about to enter Junior High. She is twelve ("going on 18") and is now taller than Jane. The last two summers we have sent her to K-State's basketball camp in hopes of retiring in a few years when she enters the WNBA draft. She is also the really smart one in the family. On her 5th six-weeks report card for sixth grade, she got her first "B" ever. She was devastated (adverbs will get you every time). "I will miss seeing all of you, but there is always the 40th. Since my mother (Margie Larsen) and sister (Sue Bath) both still live in Manhattan, you won't get rid of me that easily. Please remember me when you play "Layla" for the first time at the reunion. And tell Schiappa that if he takes my spot in another ³pyramid² picture re-creation to make sure that people know that he was not in the original (which I still have tucked away in my yearbook). |

| 4/27/07 | Wendy Payton writes: "Well, I just discovered I’m on the MIA list, and wanted to let you know I’m not missing. I am still in Kansas, still single, and still working for the same environmental company as a property inspector. My daughter, Erin (age 32), my son, Brett (age 27) and his wife Tara, my granddaughter Keauna (age 12), and my grandson Patrick (18 months) all live close by, thank goodness. My son graduated from KSU in ’02 and my parents passed away years ago so I don’t get back to Manhattan much, but sure do miss the ole’ stomping grounds and friends. I may try to make it back for the reunion, but still undecided. I can always be reached at wendy@uesenv.com or 816.807.7237." | ||

| 4/23/07 | Tapani Oksanen, our exchange student will be at the 35th reunion. He sends info and photos:
Just bought my ticket to KC, reserved a rental car, and booked a room at the Clarion, so the trip to Manhattan is definitely going to happen. I had a really nice time the past 2 weeks with family visiting here (some might call it a life). Did a couple of days' roadtrip to NYC to see the sights (my daughters have never been to the US) & the standard DC sights' tour. See you potentially at Pat's Blue Rib'n BBQ on Friday night.

| 4/23/07 | Susan (Rohles) Grapengater writes: Hello Classmates!
It is hard to know where to start after 35 years. Rick and I married after my graduation from K-State in 1976 and we lived in Tulsa for 1 and 1/2 years. We then lived in the Chicago area for 2 and Edmond, OK for 12, moving back to Tulsa in 1992. Rick owns and sells for a air cooled heat exchanger business. This has been very successful, and we are proud of him. I have spent most of my career in dance instruction, having studios in Chicago area and Edmond. I also worked with gymnasts and have done choreography for various events that either I was involved in or the kids. We have 2 children, Mark is 25 and is currently at North Park Theological Seminary getting a Masters of Divinity. He graduated from KSU with a degree in Spanish, has spent extensive time in Costa Rica, for school and missions. He will graduate next May. Laura is 21, and currently a Junior at Oklahoma State studying Early Childhood Education. She will be back home next year student teaching at Kindergarten in the Fall and 1st or 2nd in the Spring. She will be a wonderful teacher! She will also graduate next May!! I am currently not working and loving it. A few years ago I worked at the clothing store Chico's for 3 years and got my wardrobe taken care of. I am working my way through the house that we have been in almost 15 years and doing some updating. I am a Bible Study Fellowship Discussion Leader and Rick and I lead a high school age Bible Study on Wednesday nights. We had another one for 4 years, but they graduated, so we started all over again. I am also in a Garden Club( just an excuse for lunch). I spend my spare time scrapbooking and have recently been making greeting cards. It is fun and keeps my creative juices going!! My parents are still in good health and living in Manhattan. Mom still plays bridge and Dad still fishes. I am looking forward to seeing you all.
Memories - Well Vista of course!!
The Talent shows and Musicals. Singing all the songs in Lori's VW Bug
The Breakfast cook out at Warner Park after the after party on Prom night.
Pep Club.
Modeling for Woodwards with every accessory known to man.
Delivering meals with Oliver and Bill for KAYS/KAYETTES
A trip to Topeka, climbing all those stairs.
The powder puff football game - which I have recently uncovered some movie footage of!!
I am looking forward to making more memories this coming May!! |

| 4/2/07 |
The biggest highlight is that we are still here. During our 30th class reunion weekend in 2002, I was in the local hospital watching hair fall out by the handfuls. The docs had given me the first of six months worth of chemotherapy to battle Hodgkin's lymphoma and apparently things were dicey then, Bill tells me now, but I'm still here. Somewhere after chemo finished, fuzzy stuff started to grow on my head and I've let it 'keep on growin', so to speak. My new hair is now longer than my old pre-chemo hair ever was. March 2003 saw me return to work full time with the North County Times as managing editor, a title I've held since 1992. This May marks my 20th anniversary with the NCT and 20th year as a Californian. But I still miss the Flint Hills (PS: For a look at "home," out-of-staters should check out the National Geographic's spread on the Hills in the April 2007 edition). In August 2005 work had settled down enough for me to write an occasional local-issues column, which I called Keep On Truckin' ( http://www.nctimes.com/opinion/harris/ ) -- I mean really, what else could I call it? It is on "temporary hold," but plans are to resume. March 2006 saw me facing another health threat with colon cancer. Luckily, surgery was all it took to banish that beast, and I'm still here. I resumed working fulltime in June 2006 and have been working non-stop ever since. At home, we managing to stay busy with all sorts of things at the house as well as with the United Methodist Church of Vista and a local AIDS hospice. |
