Wisdoms Page
Here is written,
for all those who may follow after,
wisdom from ages passed,
to keep alive those lessons learned,
so as these thoughts may not be forgotten
but can continue on in the minds
of our successors.

Words of the Wise:
1. Real life trumphs SCA. This includes passing your classes.
2. Enthusiasm is contageous. So is apathy.
3. Communication = necessary. Clear communication = better.
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help. No, really. :-)
5. Don't panic.
6. If someone in Tor Aerie doesn't know, someone in the Barony probably does.
7. If there's feast, you probably need feast gear.
8. If you're an officer you have a form to fill out.
How to find your forms on the Northshield Officer's site:
1. Go there
2. Click on the link of your particular position
These pages include:
*Change of officer forms
*Quarterly Report forms
*A way to contact the Northshield officer
*If you need it for your position it's probably here
Minister of Arts and Sciences:
1. Networking is key and Nordskogen is your biggest resource. Get to know a couple "old farts" who know
who does what and they can help you get to the person you want. Going to Nordskogen meetings helps a lot
with starting your network and expanding it.
2. The internet is your friend.
3. 3. When scheduling classes, check meeting nights against the Jewish calendar. No, really.*
*"Once upon a time there was a certain MoAS who very energetically lined up
classes. One day during her first year in service as MoAS, she contacted a
certain Dance Master to come and teach dance. He agreed and time passed.
Like a good little MoAS, she reminded him of the class a week prior to the
date, and nothing seemed amiss...that is, until the day of the Dancing
class. You see, the Dance Master happened to be Jewish and that night just
happened to be the night of Yom Kippur. And though reminders had been sent,
the Dance Master woke up that morning, remembering it was Yom Kippur, and
did not think he had anything in conflict with said holiday, even a little
dance class at a college. So, the Dance Master was with his family on this
holiday and couldn't join Tor Aerie for the dance class. Most luckily, the
MoAS had arranged for live music for that night, and between the musician
and another dancer who had shown up, they were able to teach dance to Tor
Aerie, though at a much later time than would have been preferrable. This
is why checking the Jewish calendar, or any other important
religious/national calendar, is important: you never know what you may
conflict with."
Webminister:
1. Update the webpage as things come up.
2. People will not tell you when they get awards so on occasion, at meeting, ask.
3. Tor Aerie walks a fine line between being an SCA group and a University of MN student group making the
"Order of Precedence" page a nightmare (in addition to #2). Don't worry too much about it unless it becomes
a problem and then bring it up at meeting for an official group decision.
4. If someone wants it off the page, take it off the page.
