After a week-long assembly, the 2012 UMN-TC Formula SAE Vehicle drove again under its own power. While physical driving didn't begin until after sunset, the team worked late into the night to test out the vehicle in a simple shake-down procedure. As shown in the slideshow above, the testing proved very successful without any major vehicle failures. Yes, the University of Minnesota Police Department drove on up to see what exactly the team was up to. The officers commented that vehicle looked solid and gave the team a thumbs up to continue testing. The team plans to be testing again on Sunday (4/29/2012) afternoon after addressing a few minor issues.
