Robert's Picks: Brief Film Reviews

I have taught undergraduate film courses at the University of Minnesota since 1976. Since 1999 I have incorporated brief film reviews on this website as a means of giving my students an idea of my own analysis of film as well as a breadth of responses to films that they may engage in assignments in class. But I have also used this site to share my responses to current films with the wider community. I probably write reviews of about 75-85 films each year; and lately I have begun to skip mindless action films and other films that critics have uniformly trashed. After all--life is short, and art is long.
