BNSF

Classic Northtown Yard [Mpls-Fridley] power - the SD9s lasted far longer than most of the newer units. Andy Inserra

One of the odder repaints - simply proving that if you hang around BNSF long enough you're bound to see something interesting. Andy Inserra photo - GP39E #2911 - Northtown shops, summer 2002

Hanging on with the transfer duties are a trio of SD9s - seen Sept 5th 2004 at Daytons Bluff in St Paul by Scott Kotnour

Always a busy place - Northtown diesel shops are really crowded in the winter of 2001. Scott Kotnour photo

The yard and local power - SW12 and SW15 units pass under the Soo overpass. Scott Kotnour photo - 1991

The usual power for the hump tracks - a SD39 and slug. Scott Kotnour photo -1999

Switching tracks at the shops is a SDP40F - one of the Amtrak ones sold to Santa Fe. With the trimmed front end to provide walkways for crews it may look a little odd but it survived into the BNSF era. Here is one of the last - Scott Kotnour photo - 2000

Over at Union Yard next to the University of Minnesota campus we see the usual pair of BN SW15s that for years could be seen here. Scott Kotnour photo - 1999

Here is the Wayzata depot, preserved by the city and still hosting daily freight trains outside the door. Here is a westbound lead by a BN SD40-2 - Scott Kotnour, 2001

And a classic all-BN photo of SD40-2s and F units at Dayton's Bluff in St Paul - Scott Kotnour - 1985
