Most services provide a mix of set topics and some topics chosen by students on that service. Most try to be consistent about providing basic information for that discipline (common tumor types in oncology, how to do a good musculoskeletal examination in surgery, review of business principles in general practice).

Dermatology and ophthalmology use images as a significant part of their topic rounds.
