Notes

Paul Vachon came over in 1650, other sources have him listed as coming over before 1646. He was also the first Seigneur of Beauce county in Quebec; which is located across the river from Quebec city.

In November 1657 Monseigneur Laval, Apostolic Vicar of Canada and seigneur of the hill of Beaupre and the Isle of Orleans named Paul Vachon "notary and financial agent over all these lands" as he already was for the fief Argentenay in the so called Isle D'Orleans.

Paul once signed his name as royal notary rather than "seigneurial" notary. He was rebuffed for being pretentious. Don't forget our ancestors liked to carry titles. The name Paul Vachon was found at the bottom of nearly all public acts and contracts in the region from 1646 to 1693.
