Gustav Schiefelbein was born on 8 March 1874 in Schneidmühl, Posen, Prussia. His parents were Ludwig Schiefelbein and Wilhelmina Utke. Ludwig and Wilhemina had six children: Herman, Robert, Gustav, Karl, Edith, and Albert. The 3 eldest emigrated to America.
Gustav emigrated to America at age 16 and arrived in New York on 3 March 1891 on the Ship Aller.

Gustav married Josephine Knoblauch, daughter of Josef Knoblauch and Helena Rühle, on 16 Sept 1895 in St. Louis, Missouri. Josephine was born in 27 November 1871 in Böhmenkirch, Württemberg.
Gustav and Josephine moved to Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Gustav opened a broom factory in North Minneapolis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gustav Schiefelbein, 76, 2100 Xerxes avenue N., who died Thursday, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s church. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.
Born in Wittenberg, Germany, she had been a Minneapolis resident for 65 years.
Mrs. Schiefelbein was a charter member of St. Joseph’s church, and a member of St. Barbara’s society and Christian Mothers society.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Helen and Mrs. Alphonse Goglirsch, and three sons, William F and Frank J., Minneapolis, and Gustav C, Durand Wis.
