Project Proposal

Project Name: Biomedical Engineering Online Resource Center

Project Sponsor’s Name and Organization:
Mark Norland – President
Biomedical Engineering Society at the University of Minnesota

Justification or Reason for the Project:
Many students in engineering majors, including biomedical, know little if anything about the biomedical field such as valued abilities, new technologies, statistics, and job opportunities. As students in engineering, our view of the biomedical field is limited and I believe there is a significant need for more information to be made available to students in a single location in order to widen their opportunities in this growing field.

Main Project Deliverables:
1) An outline of resources to be added to the website; Links, Articles, Statistics etc.
2) A plan of how to accomplish the addition of the desired resources to the website.
3) The completed Resource Center on the Biomedical Engineering Society website.

Required Team Skills:
A) The ability to effectively search the web for relevant information.
B) Moderate skills in web site development and software (i.e. Dreamweaver).

Main Team Tasks/Roles:
Team Tasks
To search the web for information (valued abilities, statistics, technologies etc.) pertaining to the biomedical field and compile the information in the form of useful links, articles, and other mediums. Following that, the information will be added to the Biomedical Engineering Society’s website in the new section Online Resource Center.

Team Roles
1) Leader (lead the team, distribute tasks to team members, ensure timeliness of deliverables)
2) Task Officers (Accomplish the tasks assigned to them, offer suggestions for improvements of project, facilitate in timeliness of deliverables)
