self portrait with seven fingers

artists like women need at least

seven fingers to complete all their

required jobs . Paris may beckon

from the window or the country

plague the imagination but holding

brush in teeth, pallet in hand; extra

fingers hold on to the ecstasy of

creation. two extra fingers on each

hand are enough to pick a flower for

the lapel, to wipe a tear, to brush back

hair fallen in frenzy. women carefully

juggle the extra touches just as artists do.

they both do it all with the fingers they

were born with and a burning desire to

always do just a little bit more.
