I am interested in biomedical applications of natural language processing
and automatic speech recognition. I am currently focusing on interdisciplinary
approaches to determining the validity of the electronic medical record (EMR) for
patient-oriented research. The EMR contains information on patients' risk factors
such as exposure to medications as well as outcomes such as symptoms and functional
status. I am investigating the consistency and completness of how this information
is recorded and the methods for accessing it.
