Prospective Students

Outlaw is the LGBT student group at the University of Minnesota Law School, and we want to recruit you!

Not only is the University of Minnesota recognized as one of the country's best public law schools, it is also home to a vibrant and diverse community of students, faculty and staff. As one of the most active social and political student groups on campus, Outlaw works to provide social opportunities and support for the Law School's LGBT students. Outlaw organizes events throughout the academic year designed to make the Law School a comfortable and welcoming place for LGBT people, from panel discussions with legal scholars and practitioners working in sexual orientation law to lunches and happy hours for students.

The curriculum also provides students interested in sexual orientation law and scholarship with opportunities to engage LGBT issues academically. Students interested in international human rights law and policy may choose to take advantage of the Human Rights Concentration, offered in conjunction with the internationally renowned Human Rights Center. Law students may choose to satisfy the legal writing requirements through moot court participation or work on scholarly journals, including the Civil Rights Moot Court and the nationally recognized Law & Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice.
