Module 12 Final Task: Implementation of Technology

1. Film Analysis: I would use films that would correspond with the unit I am teaching. For example, if I were teaching WWI literature I would show Gallipoli. While they were watching I'd have them pick out themes that they recognize from the literature we have been reading. I'd also have them analyze the film as a film noting things such as camera angles, musical soundtrack, length of shots, etc. Along with those two, they would need to analyze the acting and script - i.e. how things are implied through pauses, looks, etc.

Evaluation: a) Class participation in discussion; b) Analysis Paper (2-3 pp): covers analysis of film and how it fits in/ enhances what they have already learned; c) One paragraph review of the movie with rating

2. Advertisement Analysis/ Create an Ad: I would teach them the basic of how to critique advertisement by brining in examples of current ad/commercials and some classics, gradually weaning them off my lead into independent critics. The students, once confident in their skills at recognizing things such as propaganda, audience, etc., will create their own ads using whatever creative means: computer, drawing, video, recording.

Evaluation: a) Class participation; b) Written analysis of a commercial of their choosing (1-2 pp); 3) Final product and presentation of ad. 4) Written analysis of a fellow classmate's ad (assigned partners)

3. Asynchronous On-line Discussion: I would set up a blog or something like Tapped In and post conversation starters. Student would come to the site, read the questions, and respond with their thoughts to the main question and what their classmates write. Also, in their posts I would let them deviate from the main question, submitting their own questions and thoughts, as long as it was pertinent to the course.

Evaluation: a) Participation: At least five entries a quarter; b) No length requirement, but comments/ questions should be well thought out or thought provoking; c) Each quarter one relevant website should be posted (can be counted as an entry)
