Written in the Fall of 1998.

I wrote this poem almost immediately after The Comfort of the Charity Unfair. It’s original intention was to use it as a piece of creative writing for a class I was taking. I did use it for that, but it winded up being more for God than anything. I revised it last year sometime, only changing one line that continually bothered me, line 15:

Shall I take this call            13

                    or wait and see?                14

And now that I see must I believe?      15

This line reminded my too much of a line from the song, “What if God was one of us?” There was no intention for that, but it got on my nerves every time I read it. So I changed it.
