I did a guest speaker gig this afternoon (3/26/10) in a class on Social Aspects of Computing. As always, I was talking about copyright. But today for the first time I used the "audience response system" or "clickers" that our library has available for instructional staff. The experience was really positive. Students perked up and paid attention, thought about some deeper questions, and I got some immediate feedback on my teaching. Miraculously, the clickers, my wireless mouse, and the multimedia content I'd embedded in the slides ALL WORKED at once.

I asked them why the differences between CDs/DVDs and books - answers volunteered included "We don't care as much about books!" and "It's hard to read a book on the screen." |
As to this third question, I said I didn't think there were always clear answers, but that this is something everyone should think about. |
