Past Events:Fast-A-Thon. Tuesday, October 2nd. 6:30pm. Great Hall in Coffman Memorial Union. This event is hosted by Al-Madinah Cultural Center to share the experience of fasting with non-Muslims, as well as to increase awareness about hunger throughout the world. Over 700 non-Muslims fasted to help the fight against hunger. Check out www.madinahonline.org for more information.
"Jihad: The Myths and the Facts." Thursday, November 15th. Coffman Memorial Union, President's Room (3rd Floor). Doors open: 6:30 pm. Start: 7:00 pm. The aim is to dispel any and all falsities regarding the principle of Jihad in Islam. Please invite all your friends to come and learn the true meaning of Jihad. The event is free and free food will be provided!

"Divided We Fall." December 4th. 7:30pm. Coffman Theater. Co-sponsored the film and discussion with other organizations both on- and off-campus. Al-Arian v USA Film Showing. February. Anderson Hall. Co-sponsored with Building Blocks, Al-Aqsa Institute, and Women Against Military Madness - Middle East Committee. MSA Career Workshop Series. February 11th-14th, Al-Madinah Cultural Center (Coffman 217) Learn about the inside track to graduate school and job employment from fellow Muslims. Discuss with Muslim graduate students in medical, law, pharmacy, business, engineering, public health, and dentistry schools about the tracks they took to get where you want to be. Islamic Awareness Week 2008 - March 31st- April 4th, 2008
Islam Awareness Week
was a great success this year. We would like to thank all of our
dedicated volunteers and supportive sponsors for making our efforts
possible. Alhamdulillah three new brothers and sisters embraced Islam
throughout the week. And two more brothers reverting the following week.
Summary: Over 300 people attended the Airport Simulation: Bringing
Awareness to Racial and Ethnic Profiling in a post 9/11 world exhibit
on Monday and Wednesday; over 700 people attended the five night
lectures; Sh. Khalid Yasin engaged with 50+ students in a discussion
during a seminar entitled 'Real World 101'; Dr. Hamdy El-Sawaf covered
for Imam Siraj Wahaj and spoke about the Prophets in Islam; Columbia
George Saliba delivered an amazing lecture about Islam & Science
with many audience members engaging in conversation with him after the
lecture; over 150 headscarfs were distributed and worn by non-Muslims
during hijabi-for-a-day; an estimated 150 brothers and sisters prayed
jummah in the front of Coffman, the student union, with many observers
stopping to take pictures and listen to the khutba by Sh. Mohamad
Alhomsi.
Interfaith event: Humanity's Future. Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 - at Hillel Cultural Center on University Ave and 15th Ave SE. The interfaith panel will discuss where our religions envision the world and humanity heading in the future, God willing. Over 100 people from multiple faiths attended to engage in discussion and build camaraderie. For more info, contact Abdalla Nur at abdiway@gmail.com. A Hand In Health 5k Race May 10th, 10:00am in front of Coffman Union Online registration: www.handinhealth5k.com All proceeds will be used to purchase dental equipment to provide much needed services for The Muunoo Smile Project, a volunteer dental mission this July 2008.
