Marchant laboratory

Our laboratory is interested in the application of cellular imaging technologies to study how cells behave in response to stimulation. In particular, we focus on the regulation of cell activity by Ca2+ signals evoked by the second messenger inositol trisphosphate. Such cytoplasmic Ca2+ signals have a complex spatial and organisation, regulating a variety of cellular activities in a manner keyed to the size, duration and location of the Ca2+ signal. We are interested in how these signals are generated by hormones and neurotransmitters and how these signals regulate different processes inside the cell.
