Entry 01 Haüy's Theory of Crystal Structure
Abbé René Just Haüy is regarded as the creator of the science of crystallography. He was the first to establish mathematical relationship between various forms of crystals. To Haüy, crystallography provided a rigorous basis for determining mineral species, which was absent in the field of mineralogy before him.
This entry will focus on Haüy's theory of crystal structure. The aim is to present it clearly, intuitively, and beautifully with words, images, and animation.
