Kitty

Story of Pikey:

Kinh and Dave found Pikey out in Roseville one night, abandoned and alone.  So, they took it in despite both being allergic to cats.  They tried to find a permanent home for it, because they didn't want to have to drop him at the Humane Society.

So, they thought of me.  I took one look at him and decided that I had to keep him.  He looks small for his age (4-5 months, according to PetSmart people), and one of his front canine teeth is completely broken off.  But as soon as possible, I'm going to take him to the vet to get an exam. 

So far, he's adapting well to the apartment.  He's using his litter box, drinking and eating, and insisting that he sleeps with me. 

I love it.  He's just what this place needed.  Now, let's just hope my roommate doesn't mind when she gets back to town...

(post script: as I sat designing the layout, cropping and uploading the images, writing out the captions, and finishing up other things, he lay in my lap the entire time licking himself or me.  Before that he was sitting on the mousepad (difficult if you're trying to use your mouse) batting at the screen whenever an image would change.  He's such a cat.)

Dave has this thing with playing with the kitty: it must either be held up in a ball or have its mouth invaded by fingers.  Here we see the "ball"...

Oh, did I forget the part how Dave has to hold up the kitty by the neck?  He insists the kitty doesn't mind it -- that he, in fact, likes it.  Why?  "Because he's smiling!"
Does this look like the face of a happy kitty?

I reminded him that the illusion of "smiling" can sometimes be caused by pulling facial muscles taut.

I decided to pick a fight: me, the couch of doom, and Pikey.
Suddenly just the couch of doom, and Pikey ... If this were a battle, who would win, I wonder?
