Professional & Personal Information:
I am an associate research scientist at Educational Testing Service (ETS) in the Princeton, NJ area. My Ph.D. is from the Industrial-Organizational Psychology Program at the University of Minnesota. (Industrial-organizational psychology sometimes is referred to as I-O psychology, organizational psychology or work psychology.) Previously, I was a Ph.D. student in the Industrial-Organizational Division of the University of Illinois' Department of Psychology. After my advisor, Dr. Nathan R. Kuncel, accepted a job offer at Minnesota, my wife and I moved with him. I have a J.D. (law degree) from the University of Pennsylvania Law School , where I served for two years on the editorial board of the Comparative Labor Law Journal (which has since moved and changed its name). I received my B.A. in Government from Cornell University's College of Arts & Sciences. Also, I was a Visiting Student at Hertford College (Oxford University), where I read Philosophy, Politics & Economics. I am actively licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, and I possess inactive law licenses in New Jersey and the District of Columbia.
My research interests include cognitive ability and alternative predictors of academic and job performance; judgment, decision making, and methods of combining information to maximize validity; and applicant values and interests.
Among a somewhat large and eclectic mix of personal interests, I enjoy travel, exploration, watching live ice hockey games (both college and pro) and collecting books.
My wife, Karen, is a special education teacher. She received her B.S. in special education and early childhood education from the University of Hartford. She is certified to teach in New Jersey, Minnesota, and Illinois .
Our son will turn 4 this year.
