Allow us to introduce you to Merford, our
beloved cock and mascot of the Kappa Alpha Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Merford's entire life story is a mystery, having been purchased at a garage
sale during our chapter's infancy. However, we suspect he was someone's
failed art project, because no one (besides us of course!) would pay money
for him. Some would call him downright ugly, but he has a special place in
the hearts of the brothers of the Kappa Alpha Chapter.
Unlike most mascots, he isn't fuzzy and cute: he's made of hard, cold metal, with a splattered-on coat. Luckily, his body type makes him instrumental in his own defense! Of course a dedicated member of our chapter, who shall remain anonymous for obvious reasons, is also instrumental to Merford's safety. This person ensures the safety of our cock against all potential thieves and harms. They also protect our cock from being handled by anyone other than a member in full standing of Kappa Kappa Psi, Kappa Alpha Chapter.
Both of these pictures were taken at the "Corny" Convention for the Midwest District at Iowa State University in April 1999. In the picture on the left, Merford is pictured with a copy of our 2000 Midwest District Convention bid. Merford must've been good luck, because we won the bid! The picture on the left shows Merford watching over one of our tables at the Convention Banquet.
Merford is in line for a little makeover and a new paint job, so there is
a spot reserved for a picture of his new look!
