The University of Minnesota Shotokan Karate Club is hosting its 22nd Annual Traditional Karate Tournament for February 2007. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2008, and will run from 10:30 AM to about 5:00 PM. All clubs from the midwest region are invited! We regularly see competitors from North and South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Also this year we will having a seperate children's tournament. Events will include individual kata, individual kumite, team kata, team kumite, and enbu, with several divisions for different levels of rank, and Men's and Women's divisions. The tournament is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the UMN Shotokan Karate Club, and all proceeds help pay for quality instruction and judging, equipment rental for the tournament and training, and other tournament trips. This event is a great opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow college karate clubs, and we look forward to seeing everyone! Finally, we meet after the tournament for dinner every year, at one of the many restaurants around the Minneapolis campus. Details will be announced during the tournament.

The University of Minnesota Traditional Karate Tournament is open to all karateka studying the JKA-Shotokan style of traditional Japanese karate.
