Classes I Am Prepared To Teach
As a result of my liberal arts background and my interdisciplinary training at the University of Minnesota I am well prepared to teach classes on a wide range of subjects, including: globalization, IR theory, conflict and security, international political economy and African politics. In addition, I am interested in developing a number of topically focused courses. I envision one class on the political economy of violence in Africa, including sections on the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur, struggles over Nigerian oil and Somali piracy. I would also like to develop a course on the political economy of higher education and globalization in which students research their college or university in an international and comparative context. A third topical course would be an advanced seminar would examine anti-colonial struggles in the Third World as one way of rethinking contemporary understandings of globalization.
