Class Participation Rubric

(20 Points)

The nature of participation will be evaluated by the student at the end of the semester. You will rate your participation both in class and online. Half of the points from each level of participation will be allocated to "In Class" or "Online" discussion opportunities.

  • Contributes consistently to discussion, and comments include information/ideas from the course readings and from relevant personal experience. (20 points)
   
  • Contributes to the majority of discussions, and comments are pertinent to the topic at hand and reflect reading and thoughtful consideration of materials. (16 points)
   
  • Contributes to the majority of discussons, and comments reflect own ideas not based on related course readings or experience (i.e., "off the top of one’s head"). (12 points)
   
  • Contributes to some discussions, and comments reflect limited knowledge of issues. (8 points)
   
  • Present in class, but does not contribute to discussion opportunities. (4 points)
   
  • Spotty attendance; does not contribute to discussions. (0 points)

18-20 points = A
16-17 points = B
11-15 points = C
6-10 points = D
< 6 points = F
