[NOTE: THIS CHAPTER IS UNFINISHED--STILL IN ROUGH- DRAFT NOTE FORM.]

The sculptural arts are three-dimensional arts-- arts that stay in one place in reality and that we can see, touch, stroke, and sometimes even walk in, on, or around, or even live in.

It is the amazing and well developed sense of touch and of three-dimensional space that makes the sculptural arts such a solidly rooted physical experience. This can be said about dance, too--space and a sense of the physical body or presence of the dancer or of the sculptural art form. In fact, most sculpture is so flowing and so concrete all at the same time that we can say, really, that sculpture is frozen dance.

The sculptural arts include any three-dimensional object made with beauty in mind:

statue
building
flower garden
relief carving
water fountain
rock garden
abstract design
monument
craft art

The key to appreciating these art forms is to interact with them physically by touch or by movement within them.
