usually start, directly or indirectly, by writing about themselves."

Making Up a Novel:

            Make up the advertising blurb on the back of a paperback novel--the little description of 150-250 words that is written on the back of a paperback novel to describe what is in it.  Be as creative, strange, or unusual as you wish.  Then make a list describing characters, settings, plot (main problem the main characters confront), and, if you wish, one or two interesting symbols.
