My name is Elizabeth Jeffries. I am a graduate student at the University of Minnesota pursuing my masters degree in sculpture. I was diagnosed with stage 4 low grade follicular lymphoma during my first semester at the university. With support from my family and friends I have managed to deal with cancer in a positive manner having successful results. My goal is to continue my path in art with intentions to reach the medical and patient community creating an awareness of the benefits that can be found in alternative therapies. My hope for the future is that visualization therapy and other alternative healing techniques will be "prescribed" along with traditional medicine in order to increase wellness in the community, not only in patients with serious illnesses. I find that today we neglect the mind and focus on the body far too much and depend on quick fixes when the root of the problem lies far deeper than we suspect.
