IAESTE's mission is centered around “…developing global skills in tomorrow’s technical leaders” through paid technical internships. Through collaboration of IAESTE members in 80+ countries, opportunities are found in a variety of environments ranging from universities and research facilities to industry. An international internship organized through IAESTE makes organizing housing and acquiring necessary work permits much easier. In the majority of cases, the local IAESTE committee arranges housing and offers exciting cultural events with other IAESTE interns and local committee members.

The internships typically last 8-12 weeks and are usually arranged for May-August. Once registration as an IAESTE member has been completed, the internship application can filled out at any time. The priority deadline for 2008 applications has been set as December 1, 2007. Applications will be accepted after this deadline, but with a reduced chance of placement. A great way to increase your chances of placement are to be active at the local level. This includes attending meetings, fundraising, helping with job raising, attending IAESTE social functions, and attending the IAESTE regional and national conferences. Also, one of the best ways to become active is to become a local committee officer. Our officers have historically had great success with internship placements and being selected as international delegates for programs such as the Innovate Conference.

Some examples of the 2007 placements are provided below.

Brian Phillipi -- Architecture -- Ukraine
Sara Yohe -- Chemical Engineering/Chemistry -- Austria
Jodi Thomas -- Electrical Engineering -- Hong Kong
Charles Borchert -- Computer Engineering -- Korea

Our current President was a 2008 placement:

Jason Houle -- Chemistry -- Austria
