Brooklyn, NY June 24 - 25, 2000

During the early years of Bruce's stay in the United States, there were just a hand full of dedicated martial artists with whom Bruce associated, worked out, and exchanged ideas...Larry Hartsell has been a member of this group, as well as a family friend, to this day... Bruce would have been proud of Larry's continued growth in the arts and of his constant striving to reach his fullest potential.

Larry Hartsell is a living Martial Arts legend. Sifu Hartsell is the
founder of the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association and is an authentic
original student of Si Gung Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.
Larry was already a black belt in Judo, when he began the study of Kenpo karate under Edmund Parker, the "Father of American Karate." While training with Ed Parker, Sifu Hartsell first met a young karate instructor named Dan Inosanto. After receiving his Kenpo black belt, Larry Hartsell became one of the original students of Si Gung Bruce Lee. After a tour of duty in Vietnam, Larry continued his studies with Bruce Lee as a private student at his Bruce Lee's home in Bel Air, California. In 1969 Larry became Bruce Lee's first full contact fighter.
Later, under the tutelage of Guro Dan Inosanto, he became the acknowleged master of the grappling arts of Jeet Kune Do. According to Sifu Dan Inosanto, "Larry Hartsell is one of the premier Jeet Kune Do fighters of our time." After Bruce Lee's death, Larry received certification in the Jeet Kune Do Arts and continues to study with Dan Inosanto to this day.
