Pediatric imaging at the University Variety Hospital for Children is staffed by two fellowship-trained pediatric radiologists in the Department of Radiology of the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic. Services provided include all aspects of conventional pediatric radiology as well as cross-sectional body/skeletal imaging(CT, MR, Ultrasound).
Outreach coverage is provided at Hennepin County Medical Center. Pediatric radiology coverage for neonatal intensive care unit patients is also covered at the University Hospital/Fairview Riverside Medical Center.
The section has a strong history within the main radiology department, including a pediatric radiologist, Dr. Leo Rigler, as a former Chairman.
A teaching file collection, currently over 2300 cases, is constantly being updated and available for use by any member of the faculty or houstaff. Many of the newly added cases will be appearing elsewhere on this website in electronic form and multimedia interactive applications are currently also under development for educational purposes.
