Anna Hersey, soprano, enjoys performing a wide range of vocal repertoire, from opera and oratorio to Lieder and contemporary American art song.

Recently she performed in Lakmé and Roméo et Juliette with The Minnesota Opera and sang the role of the Contessa in Theatre de la Jeune Lune's tour of Figaro to Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Past operatic and musical theatre roles include La Princesse (L'Enfant et les sortileges), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Frasquita (Carmen), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Fiona (Brigadoon), Joanna (Godspell), and Nursemaid (Street Scene). Upcoming roles include ConcepciTn (L'heure Espagnole), Despina (CosM fan tutte), and Dolcina (Suor Angelica).

Miss Hersey was a two-time Schubert Club Competition finalist, won second prize in the 2007 Thursday Musical Young Artist Competition, and performed with the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra as winner of their concerto competition. As winner of the Upper Midwest Regional Finals, she was named a national semi-finalist in the 2008 NATS Artist Auditions and received the Karl Trump Award from the NATS Foundation. Recently she was a national semi-finalist in the Florida Grand Opera/Young Patronesses of the Arts Competition.

Miss Hersey has performed in master classes with Dawn Upshaw, Vivica Geneaux, Marianne Hirsti, Jennifer Larmore, Christopher Maltman, Håkan Hagegård, and Simon Estes. Coaches include Roberto Berrocal, Timothy Cheek, Timothy Lovelace, Thomas Muraco, and Cristiano Manzoni, with whom she maintains an ongoing artistic collaboration.

The past two summers, Miss Hersey has performed in concert at the prestigious Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Italy, where she was awarded the Emma Contestabile Scholarship for study with acclaimed soprano Raina Kabaivanska. She holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Minnesota, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Miami.
