http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hause011/NF/ (Ayd Mill info, Neighborhoods First!) Hi Neighbor, The first general membership meeting of 2001: >> Saturday March 24th, 11am, 2nd floor of Ganglehoff Center, Concordia College, St Paul (southwest corner of Hamline and Marshall). Guest Speaker: St Paul City Councilman Jay Benanav will talk about the events and opportunities offered by the upcoming City-Wide Summit on >> "CITY-WIDE SUMMIT ON TRAFFIC CALMING AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY" May 17-19, with renowned author and speaker David Engwicht. PLUS at our meeting >> Ayd Mill Corridor Update: Even though the issue has been out of the media spotlight since the Two-lane Extended Alternative was chosen by City Council last April, NF! and others continue to work on several fronts with some positive developments ---- status to be reviewed FOR DISCUSSION: Given the City Council stance on moving to two vehicular lanes, how could/when do we open the corridor to more citizen (bicycling, pedestrian, etc) use? There is much work and getting-the-word-out to be done to maximize success and ripple effect from the upcoming May City-wide Traffic Calming Summit Please try to come to the meeting, bring friends and neighbors. >> Please note: For those who are interested, immediately after the NF! large group meeting a separate, brief training on how to be a delegate at the upcoming DFL caucuses will follow. Although as an organization, NF! does not formally endorse Mayoral candidates, (and has invited other candidates to our meetings), Councilman Benanav has consistently supported NF! efforts to find creative approaches on the issue of Ayd Mill Corridor, and we are pleased to publicize his efforts to expand direct citizen political participation in the April aucuses.
