Hi Neighbor,

> The Sierra Club Alert has a MN House meeting on de-funding
Light Rail to attend 8AM Monday, March 13 details below!

> Lexington Avenue will be a Ramsey County road.
According to the Highland Villager, on March 1 the city council
started the transfer of Lexington to the County. County roads
generally have larger setbacks, widths, etc (Think of County B up
by Roseville.) Time to pressure the County to remedy traffic
problems on Lexington that are used as an excuse for Ayd Mill
freeway connections. (addresses below) Once again the
City has been unable to respond to a problem and pushed
off any leadership to another governing body. The question
now is will the county engineers widen and speed up Lexington as well
as build up Ayd Mill and create a dual track eight lane psuedo
    freeway corridor.

>
> 1. LRT moves people without paving land, destroying
> habitat, or
> necessitating sprawl.
> 2. It does not require removal of urban tree canopy,
> as elevated
> structures for Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) would.
> 3. It is the least intrusive system of mass
> transportation that can be
> retrofitted to existing neighborhoods and
> communities.
> 4. It is a point source of pollution that can be
> controlled, rather than
> a nonpoint source as is deisel bus power.
> 5. It is basically noiseless.
> 6. It's initial lifecycle is several decades longer
> than other systems,
> meaning high initial capital is amortized over a
> period that reduces
> overall costs to below that of busways or new
> highways.
> 7. It has lower operating costs than any other human
