Highlights

Jon & Bonnie are living the good life in Roseau, where they are lucky enough to have all their children and grandchildren living within 3 miles of their door. Jon is in his 28th year of hauling the mail and still trying to decide when to retire. He is also Head Building and Grounds Keeper for Thelma's farm which is now occupied by daughter Kathy and family. Some time is also spent restoring and now driving a 1931 Ford Model ‘A’ Coupe which was to have been a retirement project. Bonnie keeps the hospital, where she is the Administrative Assistant, running smoothly. She spends as much time as possible with her 4 grandchildren and the rest goes toward reading, cross-stitching, and sewing for anyone who needs it.

About Jon

Jon is a perfectionist, he will tackle major projects only after ensuring that he can be in control of the results throughout.

He is the most skillful, modest and reliable carpenter around. Each year he stops by his brother’s Log Cabin in the woods and executes a major construction program without ever requesting a reciprocal favor (perhaps because he has evaluated the talent he’d get in return). Some of his projects at the cabin include: 1997: Cabin Trusses & Roof; 1998: Fireplace Footings & 2 Decks; 1999: Deck & Stair Railings & Hot Tub; 2000: Hardwood Flooring & Log Stairways; 2001: Home-Crafted Oak Walls for Bedroom; 2002: Home-Crafted Oak Walls for Family Room; 2003: 3-Season Porch Ceiling & Gable Wall; 2004: 3-Season Porch Enclosure, Doors & Windows; 2005/06: Storage Shed & Garage Erection.

You’ve got to get up early to surprise Jon to take his picture at work, but we did manage to get a few of his Log Cabin projects.

All the Hagen boys were relaxing after a busy Log Cabin project, and we caught them lounging at the Spider Lake Resort near Birchwood, WI:
