Dr. Heino A. P.
Beckmann holds a faculty appointment at the University of Saint Thomas,
Saint Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Rome, Italy, where he has
been teaching courses in corporate financial management and
international finance since 1986. He has been a visiting professor at
universities in Germany, Canada, Taiwan, Greece, Belgium, Croatia and
Uruguay.
Dr. Beckmann is also
President of Stecher Associates, Financial Consultants.
Besides teaching and
consulting, Dr. Beckmann serves the financial community in several
capacities. He is a national Director of Financial Executives
International (FEI), a professional association of chief financial
officers, treasurers and controllers. Dr. Beckmann is a past President
of FEI’s Minnesota chapter. He was a member of FEI’s Committee on
Government Liaison, which regularly advised the U.S. Congress and the
executive branch of government in Washington, D.C. He is currently a
member of FEI’s Global Oversight Committee. In 1992, Dr. Beckmann
received FEI’s National Distinguished Service Award. He was the fourth
recipient of the award in the then 61-year history of the organization.
Dr. Beckmann serves
the international community as Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic
of Germany for the States of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota,
and Counties Pierce, Polk and St. Croix in the State of Wisconsin. He is
also Vice President of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the
Midwest, Minnesota Chapter.
Dr. Beckmann holds
graduate degrees in law (Freie Universitaet Berlin, Germany),
international relations (University of Pennsylvania), political
philosophy (University of Pennsylvania), and business management
(University of Minnesota). He completed post-graduate course work in
finance (The Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, University of
Pennsylvania).
Previously, Dr.
Beckmann had careers in research with the Foreign Policy Research
Institute of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and in the military of the
Federal Republic of Germany. He was the commander of an artillery
regiment, deputy commander of an armored brigade, liaison staff officer
with the German Military Representative at Washington, D.C., and he
attended the Fuehrungsakademie (leadership academy for general staff
officers) at Hamburg, Germany.
