Karen Frederickson

Hi, I'm Karen Frederickson

This is Cleo's home page -- sort of. Cleo is my "nom de Web" when I write plot summaries for the Internet Movie Database. It isn't short for Cleopatra (duh!), but is in honor of a girl from my home town, a supporting player on a most exciting day in 1933.

Rather than inserting an autobiography here, I prefer to set a task: create a Karen of your own imagining. Check out my pages and my list of links. Between the lines you can find, well, part of me. Never all.

While I'm at it, I would like to say hello to the three members of the Smoking section and to all the other rfs (guess) from years gone by: the KlaCt years. My bad behavior depends greatly on your assistance -- or at least your presence! Occasional cyberpresence will have to do for now.

(P.S. I have *much* trendier glasses now!)

Anything new?

My summer 1998 goal was to complete the Robbery page. Promises, promises. On the other hand, my Big Valley episode guide is ready to view. Nick. Nick Barkley. Smile when you say that!

I have decided to make my Brunel Travelogue page available for viewing, despite the fact that I haven't scanned any of my personal photos. The text is up, and there are some links that I think are fun enough to play around with. I'll let you know when my photos have been added; it may not be until December 2000.

I attended the 1999 Summer Fling, a Big Valley fan get-together in California. Great fun - hello to any BV fans who might come upon this page.

Other news: I visited Italy in October 1999. No, I haven't posted pictures -- ! (see above) I did add a good link to Venice on my Links page, though. I should say that I had wanted to travel to Italy since I took my first Art History class as an undergraduate. I used Florence and Venice as bases, and visited Siena, Lucca, Ravenna, Padua and Verona as well.

Newly begun: The Reading Page. I can say "begun" fairly, because this is not a page that will ever be done. Take a look.

Fall 2000 has seen considerable Dunnett-celebration. Dorothy Dunnett completed her series The House of Niccolo this year, and the celebration has been literally world-wide. Yes, I mean that! I attended the North American gathering in Philadelphia in late September; Lady D also visited Minneapolis on her post-gathering book tour. If you want to learn more about this wonderful writer, check out the James Thin web pages, accessible through my Links Page.

While you're on the Links Page, how about checking out Jeremy Northam? You'll find him in Movies and Television. Check him out indeed... Hmm. Or should I say, Yumm.

More Links Page notes: I've been checking the links regularly, for out of date addresses or sites that have closed down completely. I wish I could find a good (permanent) photo of Saint Gaudens' statue of General Sherman by the Plaza Hotel...and one of the Flatiron Building...and a really good site on Sullivan's Owatonna Bank. Well, I'll keep trying! (oh...some of you think I should post my own pictures???)

Speaking of links, I had to do a major search for new links for my Brunel page. What's with these universities (Bristol and Brunel), changing their pages around? For shame! I did find some completely new links while I was at it, however: for the Rotherhithe engine house, for the Saltash Bridge, and so on.
