Date: March 1st, 2003 Place: CMU Board Room Present: Yunqing You, Yufeng Guo, Elizabeth Shirley Xue, Jia Zou, Xiaowu Zhang, Xunyu Cheng, Siqin Yang, Bin Wu, Peng Huang, Debby Hsu, Jiang Yu, Yingjiu Nie and Wei Zhou Note: Welcome Yingjiu Nie and Wei Zhou to be on the board! Announcements: 1. The president Yunqing You briefly commented on the past events reviews. The New Year's event turned out to be successful as a whole, but there were many problems as well. Board members discussed a possible change of celebration for the next New Year. 2. Bin Wu presented the plan for the badminton competition. Again, the winner, as the representative of FACSS from the U, will participate in a larger range badminton competition for Midwest universities initiated by UCSSA. Detailed rules were discussed for the competition. Several board members agree to help with the organizing. 3. Huang Peng reported two seminars that were scheduled in March: the medical seminar and taxation seminar. 4. The final deliberation of Students Fees Committee will be held at 5:00pm at Nolte Center 140. Yunqing You emphasizes that it is crucial for all Chinese students and scholars to show their support for FACSS to the committee members. He urged everyone should go to the meeting and contribute their thoughts. 5. The China-US relationship forum was scheduled on April 13th, 2003. The preparation work including fundraising, speakers inviting, and organizing was discussed. 6. The new board election will be scheduled on May 3rd, 2003. |
