On November 11, 2009, the ESO hosted its second ever Alumni panel, where distinguished U of M Alumni spoke about how they use Economics in their carreers. Alumni included Matt Busek from Target, Barb Kirdrowski from Wells Fargo, Les Brunker from UBS and Marty Kuehne from Seabury/OCI Advisors.
On Thursday, September 17th, ESO is hosted its Fall Kickoff. Target representatives spoke about job and internship opportunities, and offered advice on how to best market oneself to potential employers.
On April 22, ESO hosted its first ever Alumni board. 40+ students came out to see the distinguished alumni speak about how their economics degree helped them throughout their careers.
On April 1, ESO's Kaplan representative talked about the many different test prep programs they have to offer. Paid ESO members recieve a discount when taking Kaplan Courses.
On February 16th, ESO hosted a study abroad panel where undergrad econ students shared their experiences with studying abroad. It was a good opportunity to learn about the study abroad process, and hear some great "abroad" stories from fellow econ students.
On January 28, 2009, ESO hosted its spring kickoff event. Current and perspective members came to see Mathew Carney-Ubl (Sales Manager) and Heather Benson (Director of uCamps Recruiting) from Ameriprise give a lecture on Financial planning. The lecture covered topics ranging from what Ameriprise is, to how to start a career as a financial planner. Students enjoyed food (catered by Ameriprise), games, and prizes.


On December 11th, ESO held a "finals study session", where paid members were provided a quiet envirnoment to study with other economics students.
On November 19th, Brenda Granison, the Intern Program Manager for Wells Fargo, talked about the different internship opportunities available through Wells Fargo. She provided extremely useful advice on how to best present ourselves to potential employers.
On November 13, ESO hosted an internship panel. The panel consisted of economics students that shared their experiences of past internships. They discussed things like strategies to finding internships, what skills companies look for, and the importance of networking.
On October 23, ESO hosted a lecture focusing on the global financial crisis. Professor Fabrizio Perri, an expert on macroeconomics and international economics, covered topics such as the bailout and subprime lending. Professor Perri provided much needed insight on issues that will significantly impact our future.
On September 23 we had our Semester Kick-Off event. New and old members came out to learn more about the opportunities and events that ESO would hold for the school year.
On April 11 at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, ESO held it's first field trip. At the Fed members of ESO toured the facility and learned about the daily functions that occur there. It was a great experience and everyone learned a little more about the Fed and the U.S. dollar.
On March 27, ESO hosted another lecture series. Professor Chari provided the lecture on the recent credit crisis. It was great to hear a professor speak about a very hot topic in Economics today.
On February 21, 2008 ESO held a meeting about how/why to get internships with Economics degrees. A panel of students shared their experiences.
On February 7th, 2008 we had our Kick-Off Event where we reintroduced the Economics Student Organization. At the meeting we discussed our goals and mission as well as had two speakers from Wells Fargo and Professor Fabrizio Perri discuss the importance of economics.
