The Mindfulness for Students club helps students deal with stress skillfully and build self awareness through guided meditation, qigong, and movement exercises.The club has no religious affiliation, and is open to anyone affiliated with the UMN including, but not limited to undergraduate/graduate students, faculty, and staff of all experience levels.

We meet every Friday, from 5-7:00 pm where the schedule goes as follows:

        *5:00 pm* Meet at the Mayo Meditation Room (or otherwise specified location)

        5:00 - 6:30 pm (90 mins) Mindfulness session led by that week's leader. Every leader is different--sessions can include silent meditation, guided meditation, walking meditation, metta (loving-kindness) meditation, qi gong, yoga, pranayama, and small or large group discussion.

       6:30 - 7:00 pm (30 mins) Socializing and snacks

       *7:00 pm* Official end time, though sometimes people stay longer. Feel free to help us clean up.

The classes emphasize practical techniques for managing stress, lowering anxiety, and increasing concentration. On a deeper level, students are encouraged to be present in each moment by becoming more attentive to thoughts and sensations in the mind and body.

Our Purpose

  To foster a community of students practicing mindfulness by offering reliable instruction in      a safe and supportive environment.
