It was Saturday afternoon Nov, 5th 1993.Our hunting party had gone back in to eat a little lunch at the deer camp. Kevin, My brother-in-law, Was mumbling about how he didn’t think his stand was in a very good location. He also thought that my deer stand was the best chance for seeing a deer. Knowing what it is like to be out on opening morning and not see anything, I told Kevin to take my stand. He said O.K.-Sure.

I know more than climbed up on his deer stand when I could hear the thump-clump thump - clump getting louder and heading in my direction. I pulled the rifle up to my shoulder, flipped the scope site down and there it was. A six point buck. It was in a half trot and headed straight under my deer stand. Needless to say, that was venison in my freezer. Anyway, after I had found where the deer was laying I began the dressing  process.
It didn’t take long before Kevin came walking over after hearing the shots. With a disgusted look on his face he said, “It figures!” And began to help me drag the deer from the woods.

Moral of the story, Never, Never, Never, Give up your deer stand!
