It is imperative you get a chance to meet the brothers of the chapter and seek the answers to the questions and concerns you have. Furthermore, try to get beyond the basic questions and find out the expectations of membership (time, finances, involvement, etc.) and the specific ways the chapter is going to benefit you.

During the recruitment period, the brothers will get a chance to know you and see what you can offer the Fraternity and how you would fit in with the brotherhood. The chapter will also make sure that you meet the basic membership requirements(i.e. grade point average and high school involvement.)

Following a successful vote for membership a chapter will issue a potential new member a "bid."  After receiving a bid, you have the options to: Accept the bid and become a new member; Hold the bid until you have made your decision; Deny the bid. Once you have accepted a bid, you will begin an eight-week new member orientation period, culminating with your initiation into the Fraternity.
