The following is a list of 1998 books which I have either seen or seen reviewed. They appear to be science fiction or fantasy, including some ghost stories or time travel stories. I included very few picture books (we can cover them more thoroughly later), and few paperbacks. I did not include paperback reissues of older books, so someone may want to share a list of Harcourt Brace and other titles. But this should be enough to get you started in hunting for possibilities for the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award, or for holiday gift ideas. The * indicates that the book is poart of a series. Somoe titles that look especially interesting are the Dalkey [reviewed by Laura in Once Upon a Time], Jones, Lyefsky, Napoli [likewise reviewed], Rowling, and Springer. I just started reading the Rupp book, and it reminds me of the good old fantasies of Edward Eager or David and the Phoenix by Edward Ormondroyd.
